Findings reveal rural-urban gaps, where rural students struggle with limited access to quality education, exacerbated by disparities in parental education and increased domestic responsibilities, particularly for female students. The impact of the pandemic varies across caste and ethnic groups, emphasizing the need for tailored interventions that consider diverse sociocultural contexts. Implications for policymakers include strategic investments in infrastructure, teacher training, and digitalization to bridge the rural-urban gap. It is important to implement policies that address the gender-specific challenges faced by female students, promote parental education, and enhance disaster preparedness. As Nepal deals with the changes in education after the pandemic, this study serves as one of the key references for transformative policies and interventions, fostering resilience, inclusivity, and equitable educational opportunities for all.

FR の行動中心の言語教育観において定義される「個人が社会の中で課題を遂行する際の言語行動」であるとは考えにくい。一方、類似の活動である文学作品の朗読については、CEFR において「美的な言語使用」の中の言語行動として定義されている。本論考では、朗読を言語行動の文脈に位置付けた日本語中上級クラスの参加者に対するアンケート調査と「朗読コンテスト」の結果を分析した。朗読コンテストのパフォーマンスとプラクティスに対する意欲は相関せず、「発声意欲」のみに有意な相関が見られ、プラクティスとしての音読と言語行動としての朗読は質的に異なる可能性が示唆された。

extended periods of time. This paper analyzes the relationship between prolonged use and youth fatigue based on data from a cross-sectional survey we conducted between 2021 and 2022. It is known that Internet use for entertainment purposes, such as playing online games and watching videos, is becoming longer, but we would like to call attention to the fact that prolonged use for learning is also fatiguing in its own way. In this paper, we review the situation of schoolchildren’s Internet use as inferred from our survey, analyze the relationship between their health status and prolonged Internet use as revealed by the survey through cross tabulation, and discuss the relationship between Internet use for learning purposes and schoolchildren’s health status through multiple regression analysis.

respectively. In Japan, people living there learn English as a foreign language because the target language, English, is rarely used in daily life except for the classroom. Consequently, English teachers, both Japanesespeaking teachers of English and Assistant Language Teachers, are forced to teach English as a foreign language at school. In this paper, we explore Error-Finding Learning (EFL) as an effective method of grammar acquisition and Teaching by Error-Finding Learning (TEFL) as a new grammar instruction. It will be clear that in consideration of an EFL context in Japan, our EFL is effective to Japanese-speaking learners of English, and that as a practice of TEFL in Japan, our TEFL is consistent with the notion of active learning emphasized in the current Course of Study for English education. This paper sets the theoretical framework for proposing new notions of EFL and TEFL, and discusses its practical implications.

The results showed that questions with geographical and historical elements in history and geography textbooks accounted for about 10% of all questions. On the other hand, the percentage of questions with geographical and historical elements was not constant throughout the textbooks. Questions that asked about cause and effect or background, geographical, and historical fields all accounted for about 10% of all questions. In the history textbooks, the percentages were constant throughout the textbooks, but in the geography textbooks, the percentages differed depending on the part of the textbooks. Based on the above results, a discussion was conducted.

The main objective is to examine meticulously lesson design and language activities, with an emphasis on their integration across five key skill areas: listening, reading, speaking (interaction), speaking (production), and writing. This research is firmly grounded in the 2018 revision of the Course of Study, which reguires that high school teachers teach language skills and foster the students? ability to think, to judge, to express themselves. The primary findings are as follows: (1) Within the textbook?s structural framework, language activities are the central element of lessons. (2) Integrated language activities are associated with spoken interaction; however, they are not as intricately aligned with spoken interaction, primarily due to the absence of explicit links between the activities and specific situational contexts or conditions required to complete language tasks. (3) Post-reading activities comprise retelling and spoken interaction, fostering thoughtful discussions of the text. (4) Variations exist in presenting main texts and structuring lessons among different textbooks. These findings have implications for class design and instructional skills for high school English teachers, particularly regarding teacher talk and oral interaction. Such interactions serve as fundamental elements for English teachers to enhance the effectiveness of language activities within the textbooks and promote greater communicative efficacy in their classrooms.

responses. Based on the aggregate results, this paper attempts to clarify what kind of health risks youths are exposed to due to unhealthy Internet use in Japan. Health hazards include Internet addiction. Prolonged use of the Internet risks causing Internet addiction, and this was observed in all grades, from elementary to high school. Online-game disorder was said to be more common among boys, but in our study, a higher percentage of girls were found to be using the games in a dangerous manner.

ing or decreasing. Population change ratios are usually used to account for population change. However, when we try to find the districts with population increase or decrease by drawing a choropleth map showing the ratios of population changes, the results are able to vary depending on the reader’s ability of map reading. Furthermore, the resulting districts are able to have the same tendency of population increase/decrease as their neighboring areas, and the increase/decrease should not be considered to be that of the districts locally, but to be that of the neighboring areas entirely. Therefore, we propose a method applying GWR: Geographic Weighted Regression model, which enables us to consider local population changes, to mechanically find the population increase/decrease areas without the need for human map reading. An example of the proposed method is shown, where a set of 1km mesh data of the census 2000, 2010 and 2020 in the case of Gunma prefecture is analyzed. Through the example, it is shown that the proposed method can be practically carried out under the use of GIS application software such as ArcGIS.
