概要: Departmental Bulletin Paper<br />Despite an increase in physical characteristics,children's hrowing performance has been declining over the past 20 years. This is problematic as it is vital for children at the elementary age to master individual gross-motor skills, including ball play.\nAlthough many elementary school educational programs incorporate ball play activities such as dodge ball, basketball or baseball, many children lack age-specific throwing and catching skills.\nConsequently, children become sedentary with little or no physical activities in their later lives. The aims of this study were to examine the effect of throwing ability on children's ball skills, and motivation to engage in throwing performance during ball related activities using the unique ball.\n For this study, 89 participants (1st grade elementary school) were placed into three groups: Play with an ellipse ball; Play with a regular ball; and, Control. 86 participants completed the tests.\nThe study measured throwing distance with a softball that required proper throwing mechanics for quantifying throwing ability. Throwing\nmechanics, participant's expression to the ball play, and learning strategy were measured by applying kinematic analyses on the ball's trajectory, body movement, and their behavior.\n The results showed the participants in the ellipse ball group showed significantly greater development of precision grip skill, release angle and cooperative movement skills with enjoyment. 続きを見る

概要: application/pdf<br />Departmental Bulletin Paper<br />The purpose of this study was to examine that the relation between metabolism, obesity and exercise for mentally retarded children. The subjects were mentally retarded children(boys:n = 29, girls:n = 8 aged 13 to 18 years). REE:resting energy expenditure values were measured by Portable Indirect Calorimeter(Metavine).The determination of REE has been indicated as one of the important parameters to evaluate the conditions of health In this sutudy we were measured to REE of mentally retarded children. The correlationships among body weight,body fat, lean body mass,and REE were analyzed.Significant negative correlations were obtained between REE and body weight(p <0.05). And significant negative correlations were obtained between REE and body fat(p <0.01). 16 mentally retarded children (aged 13 to 15 years) performed 15-min resistance training using0.5~1kg dumbbells for 12 weeks. We measured their lean body mass and resting energy expenditure before and after training. After 12 weeks of training, lean body mass and resting energy expenditure in mental retardation pupil were significantly (p <0.05) increase(lean body mass:34.9± 10.7 → 36.1 ± 10.9 resting energy expenditure:34.9±8.2 → 38.4±8.5). 続きを見る

概要: application/pdf<br />Departmental Bulletin Paper<br />The purpose of this study was to examine that walking at perceived intensity for older adults. Fourteen older adults (7 male, 7 female; age(mean±SD)=65.6±4.7yr) performed 400m walking test at perceived intensities(slow, normal, comfortable, and fast). The subjects walked at perceived intensities while velocity, heart rate (HR), %HRmax, ratings of perceived exertion (RPE), stride length, and Step frequency were measured. The subjects answered physical response after walking. The main results obtained from analysis were as follows: 1. There were hardly any changes of physiological responses from slow to comfortable. 2. The comfortable intensity was safety pace between normal and fast. And it was easy to find physical responses. 3. The comfortable intensity met the American College Sports Medicine's recommendation for improvement of cardiorespiratory fitness. 続きを見る
