概要: application/pdf<br />Journal Article<br />Constitutive equations regarding the drift flux model for a multiphase flow consisting of molten material and its solidified particles were thermodynamically derived under a condition of local quasiequilibrium. The basic equations, including the conservation equations and the constitutive equations for the multiphase flow, were expressed in dimensionless forms. The theory developed here confirmed that the temperature fields closely depended on the Lagrangian derivative of the solid fraction accompanying the latent heat effect, and was characterized by the Stefan number. It was also suggested that the simplified basic equations corresponding to the phase equilibrium diagram were useful in the analysis of multiphase flow with solid-liquid phase change. 続きを見る

概要: application/pdf<br />Journal Article<br />The performance of a 6-stroke diesel engine was numerically analyzed by means of a simple thermodynamical model. Since the 6-stroke diesel engine proposed in this report has two combustion processes in one cycle, it will offer new methods of the Combustion Control which could not be attained in an ordinary 4-stroke diesel engine. For example, the second combustion stroke provides the oxidation process of the soot that formed in the first combustion stroke. With this method, the in-cylinder gas temperature related to the NO_x and soot formation in the combustion processes was predicted. It was confirmed that under various conditions, the maximum gas temperature of the 6-stroke diesel engine was lower than that of the 4-stroke engine. Furthermore, a 6-stroke low-heat-rejection diesel engine was analyzed. It was predicted that in comparison with the temperature in an ordinary 4-stroke engine, a higher thermal efficiency would be attained with a lower in-cylinder gas temperature. 続きを見る

概要: application/pdf<br />Journal Article<br />A mathematical method for transforming moire-schlieren data into internal density (and/or temperature) distributions has been presented. The method of transformation, which is applicable to both symmetrical and asymmetrical flow fields, has been deduced by modifying the Maldonado-Olsen's series. The accuracy of the present method was examined with a mathematical model of a density function of the truncated pyramid type. In order to demonstrate its usefulness for asymmetrical flows, temperature distributions in a combustion flame have been measured for a square nozzle. Experimental moire images of the flame were recorded by a video camera, and the integrated light refraction was converted into an internal temperature distribution. The results showed that the temperature profiles in the flame are distinctive owing to the rectangular nozzle, and that the present method is very effective. 続きを見る

概要: application/pdf<br />Journal Article<br />The atmospheric Ar plasma freejets, generated by an electric arc discharge, are visualized and measured by the Moire-Schlieren method to obtain the details of their high temperature fields. Electron temperatures and electron number densities are also deduced from a combined method of the absolute intensity measurements of Ar spectral lines and the collisional-radiative process theory. From the experiments performed under the conditions of arc currents of 100-200 A and nozzle diameters of 3-4 mm, the following are found : (i) The gas temperatures are 1000-5000 K and the electron temperatures are about 8500 K. (ii) The distributions of gas temperature for the conditions show a similar form. (iii) The freejets are thermally in nonequilibrium, though the plasmas are fairly dense. 続きを見る

概要: application/pdf<br />Journal Article<br />In the ionization relaxation regions behind Ar shock waves containing a small amount of NaCl, the behavior of NaD line reversal temperature (Na excitation temperature) has been investigated theoretically. In order to obtain Na spectral radiation properties, the rate equation based upon a collisional and radiative model has been constructed, and coupled with the conservation equations governing the ionization relaxation flows, and with non Maxwellian energy distribution functions for free electrons. The numerical calculations have been performed systematically for the conditions of shock Mach number M = 8 ~12 and the admixture ratio of [NaCl] to [Ar] θ = 10^<-6> ~ 10^<-4>. It is found that the excitation temperature of the NaD spectral line, reflecting a non-equilibrium state of Na excited levels, is fairly lower than electron and atom temperatures in the whole course of relaxation ; and that the excitation temperature depends largely on θ at low Mach numbers, namely, it becomes large toward the electron temperature as θ increases. 続きを見る
