概要: application/pdf
Departmental Bulletin Paper
Cellular polyamines extracted from reclassified or newly validated 47\nalphaproteobacteria, 46 betaproteobacteria, 96 gammaproteobacteria, 12 deltaproteobacteria\nand 10 epsilonproteobacteria were analyzed by high-performance liquid chromatography.\nHomospermidine was widely distributed within the class Alphaproteobacteria, however,\nhomospermidine-dominant type, spermidine-dominant type and homospermidine/spermidinedominant\ntype were found and the three triamine profiles were genus-specific. The all genera\nbelonging to the class Betaproteobacteria, ubiquitously contained putrescine and 2-\nhydroxyputrescine. Triamines were absent in almost betaproteobacteria. Many genera,\nincluding psychrophilic species, of the class Gammaproteobacteria, contained putrescine and\nspermidine as the major polyaminenes. Diaminopropane and norspermidine were selectively\ndistributed in several genera of the class Gammaproteobacteria. Spermidine was the major\npolyamine in the classes Deltaproteobacteria and Epsilonproteobacteria. Spermine was found\nin some thermophiles within Betaproteobacteria, Deltaproteobacteria and\nEpsilonproteobacteria, suggesting that the occurrence of spermine correlate to their\nthermophily. Additional these polyamine catalogues serve for the classification of the phylum\nProteobacteria, as a chemotaxonomic marker. 続きを見る

概要: application/pdf
Departmental Bulletin Paper
Cellular polyamines of nematodes of the phylum Nematoda, planarians, cestodes and\ntrematodes of the phylum Platyhelminthes, earthworms, leeches and sandworms of the phylum\nAnnelida, and hydras of the phylum Cnidaria, were analyzed by HPLC and GC to obtain\nphylogenetic informations and parasitic peculiarities on polyamine profiles in lower\ninvertevrates. Spermidine and spermine were ubiquitously distributed in four zoo-parasitic\nnematodes. A plant parasite, Pratylenchus and a fungivore, Bursaphelenchus and two\nentomopathogens, Steinernema as well as free-living bacteriovores, Caenorhabditis and\nDorylaimus, contained spermidine and lacked spermine. Zoo-parasitic cestodes Hymenolepis\nand Diphyllobothrium, and zoo-parasitic trematodes Paragonimus, Fasciola and\nSchistosoma, belonging to the phylum Platyhelminthes, ubiquitously contained spermidine and\nspermine, suggesting their dependence on host animals for uptake of spermine. Putrescine,\ncadaverine, spermidine and spermine were the major polyamines in freshwater, marine and\nland planarians (the phylum Platyhelminthes), and free-living earthworms, leeches and\nsandworms (the phylum Annelida). Hydras belonging to the phylum Cnidaria contained\nputrescine and spermidine alone. Homospermidine was distributed in a zoo-parasitic helminth\nof the phylum Nematoda and two zoo-parasitic tapeworms of the phylum Platyhelminthes as\nwell as planarians, earthworms and leeches. Norspermidine and/or norspermine were found in\ntwo land planarians, a leech and a sandworm. This is the first report on the occurrence of\nthese novel polyamines within lower invertebrates. 続きを見る

概要: application/pdf
Departmental Bulletin Paper
The polyamine patterns of 21 strains of extremely halophilic archaebacteria, including three newly described genera, were examined. Agmatine as the major polyamine was found in all strains, while putrescine was found in many, but not all strains. These polyamine profiles are consistent with those of 47 strains of the extremely halophilic archaebacteria published previously, but are different from any other groups of archaebacteria. Thus, the polyamine profile of the halophilic archaebacteria serve as a useful chemotaxonomic marker within the archaebacteria. 続きを見る

概要: application/pdf
Departmental Bulletin Paper
Polyamines of the planarian, Dugesia tigrina and the leech, Haemadipsa zeylanica were analyzed by high-performance liquid chromatography. An uncommon polyamine, homospermidine, in addition to putrescine, cadaverine, spermidine, spermine and agmatine, was detected in the two organisms. Spermidine and spermine levels increased during regeneration in D. tigrina. 続きを見る

概要: application/pdf
Departmental Bulletin Paper
Cellular polyamines of newly validated seventeen genera belonging to the two taxa of Gram-positive eubacteria were analyzed by HPLC. Brochothrix was devoid of polyamines and Globicatella and Dolosignarulum synthesized spermidine within the low G+C subgroup. Appreciable amounts of polyamines were not detected in the high G+C subgroup, Nocardioides, Aeromicrobium and Microlunatus, and the six genera Brachybacterium, Dermcoccus, Kocuria, Kytococcus, Nestenkonia and Luteococcus transferred from the genus Micrococcus. The coryneform Dermbacter produced cadaverine as the major polyamine. The actinomycetes Dermatophilus and Acidothermus, and anaerobic Bifidobacterium and Propionibacterium, belonging to the high G+C subgroup, had no polyamine synthetic ability. 続きを見る

概要: application/pdf
Departmental Bulletin Paper
Polyamines of the nine genera of coryneform and related Gram-positive eubacteria were analyzed by HPLC. Authentic species of Microbacterium, Aureobacterium, Cellulomonas and Corynebacterium were devoid of polyamines. Arthrobacter species were divided into polyamine-absent, putrescine, cadaverine and putrescine-cadaverine types. Clavibacter contained putrescine and cadaverine. Spermidine was detected in some species of Brevibacterium, Exiguobacterium and Curtobacterium and diaminopropane in some Curtobacterium. Heterogeneous polyamine profiles were found in the three genera. 続きを見る

概要: application/pdf
Departmental Bulletin Paper
Pseudomonas cepacia as well as all five Alcaligenes and three Comamonas species tested belonging to the beta subclass of Proteobacteria ubiquitously contained 2-hydroxyputrescine and putrescine as the major polyamines. Cadaverine was found in P. cepacia. Putrescine and spermidine were the major polyamines of Pseudomonas aeruginosa and Pseudomonas putida belonging to the gamma subclass and Pseudomonas saccharophila whose taxonomic positions have not been established. Polyamine distribution profiles can serve as a chemotaxonomic marker within Pseudomonas species. Relative distribution patterns of the major polyamines of P. aeruginosa did not changed at different culture periods in spite of increase or decrease of their levels during growth. 続きを見る
